We believe that in an executive master program the educational experience must be cutting-edge, both regarding theory and practice. As our students mainly work as executive managers they would not appreciate educational applications that were too abstract and too general.  As they are looking for solutions that work in practice the Lorange Institute has established the Zurich Living Case as a core element of its master's programs.

 

The Zurich Living Case is a central part of all twelve day modules offered at the Lorange Institute. Living Cases are generally acquired from international companies and are based on real-time challenges they are facing. The cases are directly linked to the subject of the respective twelve day modules and they urge the students to be consultants for an acute business problem in that field.  The students work in teams on these cutting-edge real-life challenges and have to considerate the latest methods and trends in business in order to be innovative and develop practicable solutions. The solutions are presented to the senior managers of the respective company both in oral and written reports.

 

This system is to the benefit of all parties, the students, the faculty and the client. The students get a deep insight into the respective company and its field of business, they learn hot to work on real consulting tasks, and they understand which methods and theories really work in practice. The faculty gets new insights into their fields of research by writing the case and discussing its outcome with the students and the client. The client is allowed to draw on the unique resource of several cross-industrial and intercultural teams of competent executives that present a wide range of different solutions to the respective problems – each one convincing, surprising and at the same time highly practicable.
